Our privacy policy
We are very concerned at the OA
Club to respect the privacy of our members.
- Our database
We maintain a database of Old Aluredian Club members. This contains
contact details for members as well as information about the interests
in relation to the Club's activities. We also have information about
a members activities where it has been submitted by the member.
- Collection of data
Most of our data is based on information passed on to us by the
school when pupils leave and on existing data held by the club.
We are actively collecting more data in order to keep our records
up to date and to offer members more benefits. We will not, however,
in future collect information about members unless it is supplied
to us by that member. The only exception to this is where a member
is referred to in a personal context by another member in a "bulletin"
news update. A log of website usage is maintained for the purposes
of security and website development.
- Use of the data
Date held about members will only be used for club purposes. Data
will not be passed on to any commercial third party. On occasions
access to the database will be given to individuals hoping to start
a new club related activity (for example, setting up a new sports
society) or to the school for correspondence purposes.
- Inspecting data held
Under the Data Protection Act, any member of the club may request
to see any information held on them. Members hoping to do this should
write to: Guy Poland, Neate's House, Bishopswood, Chard, Somerset,
TA20 3RS, UK and a written statement will be sent out as soon as
possible.
- Requests to have information
removed
Members wishing to have no further contact with the Old Aluredian
Club can write to: Guy Poland, Neate's House, Bishopswood, Chard,
Somerset, TA20 3RS, UK or jchewitt@kings-taunton.co.uk.
The data will then be no longer used by the club except in the online
"OA Directory" where only the member's name, house and
year of leaving (but no personal data) will be maintained for historical
reasons.
- Use of information
on the website
Great efforts have been made to make the website accessible to members
only. By default, personal information shown on the website includes
a listing of each registered user's name, house and year of leaving.
It also shows most news bulletins submitted since the beginning
of 2001. Where an email address for a member is on record, a facility
on the website lets other users send an email to that member. Members
sending the email, however, are unable to see the recipient's email
address. Any members wishing not to be contacted using this facility
may request this by emailing jchewitt@kings-taunton.co.uk jchewitt@kings-taunton.co.uk
- Other uses of email
addresses
By registering your email address with the OA Club and using the
website you are added to the OA Club mailing list which will be
used for Club related uses only. Even if you have requested that
other members are unable to email you via the website, your email
address will remain on the mailing list. Requesting that you are
removed from this list (by writing to Guy Poland, Neate's House,
Bishopswood, Chard, Somerset, TA20 3RS, UK or jchewitt@kings-taunton.co.uk)
will mean that you will be unable to use the OA website.
